Type A waterproofing render system

Type A waterproofing and strengthening—without unnecessary hacking off.

Where suitable existing wall render can remain

Shorter programme Lower associated cost Less waste, noise & disruption

Five survey-specified applications match RenStrength to the existing substrate. Where assessment confirms suitable existing wall render can remain, the selected application can avoid unnecessary hacking off.

For architects, surveyors and waterproofing designers assessing existing basements and other below-ground structures.

Suitability is confirmed by survey. Local preparation and repairs may still be required.

Why no hacking off matters

  • Reduce avoidable work and cost

Where suitable existing wall render can remain, the selected application can reduce removal, disposal and reinstatement requirements.

  • A faster route to reinstatement

Fewer strip-out, cleaning and making-good stages can shorten the route to reinstatement.

  • Less waste and disruption

Keeping suitable existing wall render in place can reduce rubble, replacement materials, transport, noise and dust.

RenStrength applications

One RenStrength system. Five applications.

RenStrength is an internally applied Type A barrier protection system for below-ground structures, designed in accordance with BS 8102:2022. Its reactive waterproofing slurry works with fibre-reinforced render and, where specified, strengthening mesh. The surveyor selects one of five applications to suit the existing substrate and project conditions.

Not sure which application applies? Renlon assesses the substrate and specifies the appropriate RenStrength application for the project.

RenStrength in practice

Part of a coordinated North London waterproofing strategy.

On a substantial family-home refurbishment and new basement extension, Renlon used its Type A RenStrength system to the front-elevation plant-room soffit alongside Type B and Type C measures.

How the system works

A survey-specified Type A waterproofing and strengthening build-up.

The schematic shows the relationship between the existing structure and the RenStrength application sequence. Exact preparation, components and thicknesses depend on the selected application, site conditions and current technical documentation.

Project approach

Survey first. Detail second.

The final recommendation depends on the structure, substrate, existing finishes and project conditions.

  1. 01

    Assess

Review the structure, water ingress, substrate and existing finishes.

  2. 02

    Select

The surveyor specifies the appropriate RenStrength application for the substrate and project conditions.

  3. 03

    Specify

Issue the current technical information for the proposed build-up and project conditions.

All structural calculations and/or recommendations are to be pre-approved by a reputable structural engineer.
