We provide specialist advice on Basement Waterproofing Design, Rising Damp and
Timber Infestation
We work in partnership with
Architects
As an architect you will no doubt often come across many situations where specialist waterproofing knowledge is required. It may be to provide additional space for a new build where the footprint of the site is limited. A good alternative option could be to go below ground. This could accommodate gyms, indoor pools or home cinemas which are very commonly built in basements these days.
Another issue that you may frequently face is the conversion of existing basements and cellars into living spaces. Ensuring they are kept dry is critical especially where they could be used for the storage of valuable items.
Surveyors
For surveyors we are able to provide specialist advice and surveys on:
- Waterproofing
- Rising Damp
- Timber Treatments for Wet and Dry Rot
Our own Renlon surveyors are some of the most highly experienced surveyors in the business; they will quickly identify Rising Damp, or Wet and Dry Rot in the Timbers. Once the problem area is located we can then provide the necessary advice on how to treat the affected area, and prevent any reoccurrence.
Basement Waterproofing
Every waterproofing project requires its own assessment and designed solution depending on the conditions present. There are just two simple objectives; prevent water penetration or manage effectively any water or moisture that comes through the structure.
We offer a variety of solutions which utilise advanced cavity drain systems, drainage channels and pump technology or cementitious tanking materials. We prevent external water that is penetrating the structure by applying a render to the internal structure. Alternatively we manage what water does come through the structure using a cavity drain system and pump technology.Where this has occurred we can rectify the problem by injecting a new chemical damp proof course and rendering walls to remove the damaging effects of hygroscopic salts.
Timber Infestation
Traditional building methods combined with a damp temperate climate will increase the risk of insect and fungal attack within structural timber.
Renlon surveyors are fully trained to identify wet and dry rot in a structure. If present, we begin by identifying the moisture source, so we can prevent further outbreaks. We do this by treating the areas of masonry affected and salvageable timbers within the vicinity using the appropriate fungicides.
Rising Damp
Rising damp can occur where a structural wall is in contact with the ground and where there is no existing damp proof course, or the existing one has been damaged. Dampness can rise up the wall creating a damp internal environment and damaging internal decorative finishes.
Where this has occurred we can rectify the problem by injecting a new chemical damp proof course and rendering walls to remove the damaging effects of hygroscopic salts.
Listed Heritage & Historic Buildings
We are specialists in designing and installing both waterproofing systems and remedial solutions in listed heritage and historic buildings.
The system and materials used will always be considerate to the fabric of the building and guaranteed for a period of 10 years.
We have completed numerous projects on historic buildings including the Houses or Parliament in London and the world’s first University Museum in Oxford.
We recommend Renlon as they are a long-established company with a proven track record.
